Ground Beef Goulash

This ground beef goulash is a perfect, quick meal for a busy weekday. My hubby and I are not the biggest fans of this dish but the kids love it and never fuss when I make it. Got to keep them happy, right?

This type of goulash is an adaptation of a traditional Hungarian dish which is normally made with beef cut into chunks.

Ingredients

  • 1 package pasta shells
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions.
  2. Heat oil in skillet and brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Place meat mixture in a pot and add celery, tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar and spices. Adjust spices to your own taste.
  4. Bring to boil on med-high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally until celery is soft
  5. Mix in pasta and serve.
