Pancakes from Scratch
I do not always make pancakes from scratch, but if I do this is the recipe to use. I got it long time ago from one of my good friend’s grandma and that is the only pancake recipe I ever use.
The pancakes are very fluffy and tasty. Serve them with syrup or berries and whipped cream. YUM!
Ingredients
- ¾ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- cooking spray
Directions
- Mix milk and vinegar in a bowl. After 5 minutes the milk will “sour” and the consistency will be like buttermilk.
- In another bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk egg and butter into the sour milk mixture.
- Combine the wet and dry mixtures. Blend them well with a whisk until there are no lumps.
- Heat a skillet or a griddle over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. Pour batter onto the skillet, and cook until surface appears bubbly. Flip and cook until the other side is golden-brown.
