Philly Cheese Steak Recipe
This is a Philly Cheese Steak recipe that my family really enjoys. We like mushrooms and garlic, so I added them to the original recipe.
Ingredients
- 12 ounce boneless beef rib eye steak
- 2-3 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 medium white onions thinly sliced and separated into rings
- 1 medium red, yellow or green pepper cut into thin strips
- 1/2-1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 4 long whole wheat rolls
- 8-12 slices of cheddar or American cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Partially freeze beef then slice beef across the grain into thin, bite size strips. Use a sharp knife for best results.
- Preheat your broiler.
- In frying pan melt butter then add garlic, onions, mushrooms and pepper and cook over medium low heat for 10 minutes stirring from time to time.
- Remove from frying pan with a slotted spoon.
- Add a little more butter to skillet then add sliced beef and cook over medium heat for 3 minutes. Stir frequently. Add salt and pepper to taste. Divide beef, mushroom and onion mixture among rolls then top with cheese and broil 5 inches from heat for approximately 2 minutes.
