Philly Cheese Steak Recipe

This is a Philly Cheese Steak recipe that my family really enjoys. We like mushrooms and garlic, so I added them to the original recipe.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounce boneless beef rib eye steak
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 medium white onions thinly sliced and separated into rings
  • 1 medium red, yellow or green pepper cut into thin strips
  • 1/2-1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 long whole wheat rolls
  • 8-12 slices of cheddar or American cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Partially freeze beef then slice beef across the grain into thin, bite size strips. Use a sharp knife for best results.

  2. Preheat your broiler.

  3. In frying pan melt butter then add garlic, onions, mushrooms and pepper and cook over medium low heat for 10 minutes stirring from time to time.

  4. Remove from frying pan with a slotted spoon.

  5. Add a little more butter to skillet then add sliced beef and cook over medium heat for 3 minutes. Stir frequently. Add salt and pepper to taste. Divide beef, mushroom and onion mixture among rolls then top with cheese and broil 5 inches from heat for approximately 2 minutes.

Serving Suggestions

Serve with Yam fries or side salad
