Souvlaki Recipes

Lamb Souvlaki

Lamb is one of the meat options for souvlaki recipes. Although I prefer chicken, lamb is a nice change for this popular Greek dish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless lamb
  • 4 Tbs olive oil
  • 4 tbs lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic (or more to taste)
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp basil
  • salt and pepper to taste (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cut lamb into cubes approx. 1 inch square.

  2. To make a marinade mix all other ingredients in a bowl. Add lamb pieces to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hrs or overnight.

  3. Remove lamb from marinade and thread onto skewers.

  4. Either grill or broil kabobs until no longer pink inside roughly 4 minutes per side.

Serving Suggestions

I like to serve souvlaki with rice, Greek potatoes and vegetables.

Tip:

If you’re using wooden skewers, make sure you soak them in warm water prior to use.
