Sweet and Sour Pork Recipe

This sweet and sour pork recipe is always welcomed at my house. Unfortunately my kids will not eat cooked peppers, but they love pineapples. My daughter thinks she is having dessert for dinner.

It is best served with plain rice as there is plenty of sauce to give it a great flavour.

Ingredients :

  • 1.5 lbs pork tenderloin, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • ½ cup barbeque sauce
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 1 green pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 19 oz. can pineapple chunks
  • ¼ cup flour
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions :

  1. Place meat in a large bowl with lid, add flour, salt and pepper. Close lid and shake to coat.

  2. Heat oil in a skillet and brown pork on all sides.

  3. Combine vinegar, barbeque sauce, ½ cup liquid from pineapple can and cornstarch. Mix well and add to the meat. Simmer covered for about 20 minutes. Add pineapple, celery and green pepper. Simmer for about 10 more minutes.
